    Donington Park

As a team the PistonClick photographers like to follow a few racers through the motorcycle racing season. We have produced a few BSB Racer Profiles in our time, this is our first one for 2025. In this report we will be focusing on Harrison Mackay and Luke Hedger. Our British Superbike report from Donington Park, where these images were taken can be found here:

    Harrison Mackay #61

First up is Harrison, who races in the British Talent Cup. The BTC is a pathway race series for 14 – 17 year olds who race at the British Superbike rounds. Also at the British MotoGP held at Silverstone. Donington was the first round of the 2025 season where Harrison did rather well. In his own words he takes us through his weekend.

“Free practice proved trickier than anticipated, with the team and I working hard to dial in the right set-up. But that persistence paid off and I managed to qualify P6. Which earned a spot on the second row of the grid for Race 1. I started well and quickly found myself in an intense three-way scrap for the lead with Filip Surowiak and Ryan Frost that continued for the duration of the race. In the end, I crossed the line in second and claimed my first ever podium in the BTC!

That runner-up finish secured P2 on the grid for Race 2, and I again got away well. The tempo was much quicker than Race 1 and I clocked a fastest lap of 1:38.986. Briefly a new lap record — before Ethan Sparks beat it in the closing laps of the race. Unlike the wheel-to-wheel battling of Race 1, Race 2 was more about the chase. Despite not being able to catch Filip and Ethan, a third-place finish capped off an amazing weekend. Two podiums from two races, all with a new team and on an unfamiliar bike. Bring on Silverstone!”

As a team we have been reporting on and watching Harrison progress as a rider for a few good years. During the first race I was so pleased to see the 61 plate at the front of the pack fighting for the lead. Achieving not one but two podiums is a fantastic result demonstrating hard work and dedication does pay off. Let’s see what Harrison can do at the Silverstone MotoGP, we will be there to cheer Harrison along on his journey.

    Luke Hedger #23

Luke has a history of winning having won the Pirelli National Junior Superstock Championship 2023. 2025 will be his second season with Whitecliffe CDH Racing in the Superbike class. Last season the team ran a Kawasaki moving to the Honda Fireblade for the 2025 campaign.

“BSB Round 2 at Donington turned out to be a very positive weekend for the team and I. We quickly found our rhythm on Friday and only just missed out on a top 15 spot from my combined Free Practice times. Feeling really good on the bike, that pace carried over to Saturday where I set a personal best time around Donington of 1:38.305. I only missed out on Q2 by only 0.1 seconds.

Lining up on Row 7 for Race 1, I made a blistering start and swiftly found good pace, enabling me to settle into a hard-fought battle with the lads around me. After an exhilarating 20 laps, I brought the bike home in 15th, scoring the team and my first points of the season!

Although I wasn’t able to score additional points in Race 2 and 3, the bike — and my pace — felt equally as good. This fills me with confidence going into Round 3 at Snetterton in a few weeks time, where I hope to pick up where we left off and score more points. I genuinely can’t thank the team enough for all their hard work over the weekend, and I’d like to say a big thank you to all of my sponsors and supporters.”

Thanks to both riders for the comments in this PistonClick BSB Racer Profiles Report. Also thanks RPW, David Harbey and Mic Pringle Photography, the photographers who have contributed to this report. You can find out more about them here:
