Brands Hatch BSB 2026 – Ryde and Redding Share the Spoils

The British Superbike Championship arrived in hot dry Kent for Round 5 of the 2026 season. The meeting also carrying extra significance for one of Britain’s most famous circuits.

Brands Hatch is celebrating its centenary under the banner ‘A Century of Power’, marking 100 years since the first motorcycle races were held here in 1926. From its early days as a mushroom farm to becoming a Formula 1 venue between 1964 and 1986, Brands Hatch has grown into one of the world’s best-known motorsport circuits.

The July BSB meeting was chosen as the headline motorcycle event of the centenary celebrations, attracting a huge crowd eager to witness three BSB races on the full Grand Prix circuit. As expected, the weekend delivered close racing, dramatic incidents and another important chapter in the emerging championship battle between Kyle Ryde and Scott Redding.

Brands Hatch BSB Race One – Ryde Wins After Red Flag Drama

The opening race looked set for a thrilling finish before a late red flag brought proceedings to an early conclusion.

Scott Redding launched his Hager PBM Ducati into the lead at the first corner and controlled much of the race. However, with just a few laps remaining, Kyle Ryde found an opportunity at Paddock Hill Bend, diving underneath Redding to steal the lead.

Redding later admitted he made a small mistake through his weakest section of the circuit, giving Ryde the opportunity he needed. Before the anticipated final-lap battle could unfold, Eugene McManus #15 crashed heavily at Paddock Hill Bend, forcing race officials to display the red flags.

With the race declared at lap 17, Ryde inherited victory. Afterwards, Redding described Ryde as being

“saved by the bell”

believing he had enough pace to fight back.

Max Cook, the AJN Steelstock Bimota rider claimed third place, continuing an excellent run of form.

Brands Hatch BSB Race Two – Ryde Dominates

If race one was close, race two was anything but.

After breaking the Brands Hatch lap record to secure pole position, Ryde disappeared into the distance almost immediately. Nobody could match his pace as he cruised to his ninth British Superbike victory of the season.

Behind him, Scott Redding secured another runner-up finish while Max Cook completed his second podium of the weekend.

Cook also added some humour to the celebrations by wearing a chef’s hat on the podium, his name is Cook after all. Joining Storm Stacey’s now-famous top hat and Scott Redding’s cowboy hat celebrations it looks like there could be some new merch on the AJN Steelstock for round 6.

Brands Hatch BSB Race Three – Redding Finally Gets His Reward

The final race produced another dramatic contest, but this time it was Scott Redding who came out on top.

Having finished second twice already, the Hager PBM Ducati rider was determined not to let another opportunity slip away.

A Safety Car interruption following Brayden Elliott’s accident changed the complexion of the race. Several riders struggled with grip after the restart, including Bradley Ray, whose race unravelled as he slipped back to an unfamiliar eighth place finish.

Rory Skinner finished as the leading Yamaha rider, while Max Cook rounded off a remarkable weekend by taking his third consecutive third-place finish. Storm Stacey recorded a DNF and had a disappointing weekend overall, placed fourteenth in race one and three.

Although Kyle Ryde crossed the line second, Redding’s victory ensured valuable championship points were clawed back heading into the next round.

Championship Battle Heads To The Next Round

Brands Hatch delivered exactly what fans have come to expect from the British Superbike Championship: close racing, dramatic incidents and a championship battle that continues to gather momentum.

Amassing the most points over the weekend Kyle Ryde leaves Kent as the King of Brands Hatch. Scott Redding reminded everyone why he remains Ryde’s biggest challenger by finally converting his pace into a race win. Mac Cook on the Bimota is firmly established as a competitive package after Brands. Three consecutive podium finishes underline the progress being made by AJN Steelstock Bimota, he is becoming a regular contender at the front.

Brands Hatch BSB 2026 Review

Round 5 of the 2026 British Superbike Championship produced everything spectators could have hoped for. Two victories for Kyle Ryde strengthened his championship challenge, Scott Redding proved he has the speed to fight back with an impressive Race 3 win, while Max Cook’s hat-trick of podium finishes marked him out as one of the stars of the weekend.

Combined with Brands Hatch’s centenary celebrations and another huge crowd enjoying the action on the Grand Prix circuit, it was a fitting showcase for both the championship and one of Britain’s most iconic racing venues. The title fight is far from over, and with six rounds still to come, the battle between Ryde and Redding promises plenty more excitement before the 2026 champion is crowned.

Round 6 of the British Superbikes will be at Oulton Park 31 July – 2 August 2026.
