IoM TT 2026 – Supersport TT Race 2026

2 June 2026

IoM TT Map

Rain delayed the start of the scheduled three races today, the 2 June. Revising the program the clerk of the course released a disappointing schedule. One race, the Supersport TT Race 2026 would be run over three laps. We headed for Creg-ny-Baa, a public house and popular viewing spot for the TT spectators.

Arriving at Creg-ny-Baa I could see there were a lot of spectators so decided to hike up to Kate’s Cottage to try something different. I have not shot at this location before, not many will make the hike as the ground is rough and waterlogged.

During the TT fortnight it’s worth trying out new locations as well as the old faithfuls. RPW Photography would go for the iconic Creg to Kate’s shot.

Sitting in the gorse hedges, news came through that the weather was improving and they were going to run a second race. Looks like we were going to be out on the course for some time. The first race would be at 15:00, the second at 18:30. Up first, the Supersport race.

Monster Energy Supersport TT Race 2026

The IoM TT Supersport class has shifted from a field dominated by 600cc four-cylinder four-strokes such as the Honda CBR600RR and Yamaha YZF-R6 to one featuring the next generation of machines.

The class now features the 955cc Ducati Panigale V2, Triumph Street Triple 765RS, Suzuki GSXR750, and from 2026, the Yamaha YZF-R9. Rules ensure parity between these larger machines and the original 600cc bikes. These machines are extensively modified, produce over 130bhp, and have high cornering speeds.

Michael Dunlop MBE rewrites the history books with his 34th TT win.

Michael Dunlop made it nine consecutive wins in the Supersport class and 34 total wins at the Isle of Man TT. Victory in the Monster Energy Supersport Race 1 kept Dunlop at the head of the all-time TT winners list and the dominant force in the Supersport TT race.

Dunlop on the Ducati Panigale V2 was poetry in motion for all of the Supersport race. After the mandatory pit stop at the end of lap 1, Dunlop got his head down for the final two laps. Edging away from the chasing pack, he went on to win by over 24 seconds from Dean Harrison and Peter Hickman in 3rd.

MD keeps rewriting the history books and this TT is not over yet. Can he make it 35 in 2026?

Sportbike TT Race

We headed up to the Gooseneck for the second race of the day, the Sportbike TT Race. Finding a good spot at the Gooseneck I settled in and waited for the race start. The sun was shining and you could see for miles. The view from the Gooseneck is stunning, I was looking forward to this race. However, all too soon a marshal appeared “racing is cancelled”. Pointing behind me I turned to see dark clouds rolling in. Time to go, tomorrow is another day, hopefully a dry one with some Tourist Trophy Road Racing.
