Vintage Prescott Delivers a Celebration of Motorsport Heritage

The Vintage Sports Car Club’s Vintage Prescott Hill Climb, held on 1st August 2026, once again proved why it is regarded as the flagship event on the VSCC calendar. Set amongst the rolling Cotswold countryside, the famous 880-yard Prescott Hill provided the perfect backdrop for a glorious weekend of historic motorsport, with warm sunshine and packed spectator banks creating a wonderful festival atmosphere.
Prescott has been synonymous with classic competition for generations, and throughout the day the hill echoed to the unmistakable sound of pre-war engines as drivers tackled one of Britain’s most iconic hill climbs. Every run demanded precision and commitment, rewarding those who could balance speed with the unique character of these remarkable machines.
Historic Hill Climb Action at Prescott
Among the standout performances was Jeremy Ball, whose beautifully prepared 1935 Riley Lynx produced an impressive and confident climb, demonstrating just how competitive these historic cars remain nearly a century after they first took to the road.
Another memorable run came from Lucy Del-Aney in the elegant 1930 Lea-Francis Hyper. She combined smooth driving with plenty of pace as she powered towards the summit.
Celebrating Alfa Romeo and Motorsport Heritage
One of the highlights of Vintage Prescott was the celebration of Alfa Romeo, with an incredible 30 examples making the journey to Gloucestershire. Fifteen stunning cars filled the orchard, where visitors admired the marque’s rich heritage up close, while another fifteen tackled the hill itself.
Among them was Oliver Way, whose 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C Gran Sport climbed effortlessly, showcasing the engineering excellence and racing pedigree that has made Alfa Romeo one of motorsport’s most celebrated names.
Away from the competition, there was just as much to enjoy. A bustling Auto-jumble offered everything from rare parts to automobilia, while the trade stalls attracted enthusiasts searching for books, clothing and specialist equipment. The ever-popular Bugatti Trust also welcomed visitors. The Trust providing a fascinating insight into the history and engineering of one of the world’s most iconic marques.
Vintage Prescott is far more than just a hill climb. It is a celebration of the people, cars and traditions that have shaped British motorsport for generations. With thrilling competition, magnificent machinery and one of the most picturesque venues in the country, the VSCC once again delivered a weekend that perfectly captured the spirit of historic motorsport.
For competitors and spectators alike, Vintage Prescott 2026 proved that some of the finest racing experiences happen not on modern circuits, but on an 880-yard ribbon of tarmac winding its way through the beautiful Cotswolds.
