Shelsley Walsh

The historic Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb basked in glorious sunshine as temperatures soared on Saturday, 4 July 2026, providing the perfect backdrop for another memorable Bike Bonanza. With the mercury climbing almost as quickly as the motorcycles, competitors and spectators were treated to a day packed with thrilling action, championship battles and plenty of entertainment away from the hill.

The meeting incorporated a round of the National Hill Climb Association Championship, where the fierce competition matched the intensity of the weather. Riders pushed themselves and their machines to the limit on the famous strip of tarmac, with every run demanding precision, bravery and commitment.

Among the standout performances was Tom Short, whose spectacular riding style had spectators on the edge of their seats. Attacking the hill with complete commitment, his machine threw up showers of sparks through the corners, creating one of the most dramatic sights of the day. His pace proved unbeatable and, by the end of the meeting, Short claimed the overall victory, strengthening his championship challenge.

Another rider enjoying an impressive day was Stu Mills, who produced a series of fast, confident runs to secure a place inside the coveted top ten. Unfortunately, his hopes of an even stronger result were dashed when mechanical problems forced him to retire before the afternoon shoot-out, bringing a frustrating end to what had been a highly competitive performance.

Before launching up the hill, Callum Short delighted the crowd with a spectacular tyre-cleaning burnout on the start line, filling the air with tyre smoke and adding another memorable moment to an already exciting programme.

Charity Ride-Out and Unique Attractions

Away from the championship competition, Bike Bonanza also hosted the annual Midlands Air Ambulance Charity Ride Out, which attracted well over 100 motorcycles. Led by motorcycling legends Steve Parrish and Charlie Boorman, the impressive convoy made its way to Shelsley Walsh before joining the day’s festivities. The ride-out once again highlighted the generosity of the motorcycling community while raising awareness and support for the invaluable work of the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Adding another unique attraction was Dylan Phillips, who brought his extraordinary world record-breaking fastest wheelbarrow to the hill. The unconventional machine proved to be one of the day’s biggest talking points, demonstrating that Shelsley Walsh continues to embrace the unusual alongside the seriously fast.

Whether it was championship contenders chasing tenths of a second, spectacular burnouts, charity riders filling the paddock with motorcycles or a record-breaking wheelbarrow tackling the hill, Bike Bonanza once again delivered a perfect blend of competition and camaraderie.

With sunshine, speed and the unmistakable atmosphere that makes National Hill Climb Association events so popular, the 2026 Bike Bonanza proved to be another unforgettable chapter in the long history of motorcycle sport at Shelsley Walsh.
