Kyle Ryde defended his British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch last weekend. Held over eleven rounds, the final three races of the thirty-three in the Championship were not the dynamic races we have seen at the Finale in the past few years. Heading into the final, Kyle Ryde had a thirty-point lead over the 2022 BSB Champion Bradley Ray. With 35 points for a win, #1 Ryde needed to finish all of the races and ride tacitly. Ideally keeping Ray behind him when the checkered flag dropped for the final meeting of the year.

British Superbikes Finale Race 1.

The opening twenty-lap race had Ray on pole with Ryde in P2 and Christian Iddon on the AJN Steelstock Kawasaki third on the grid. Kyle “Youth” Ryde took the lead from Ray after he seemed to fluff his start. By lap three, Ray had taken the lead from Ryde, looking comfortable setting fast, consistent laps. Ryde could have settled for second but took the lead at Hawthorns.

Starting sixth on the grid, #4 Scott Redding on the Hager PBM Ducati had been picking off the leading pack. Redding was a man on a mission and took P2 from Ray with four laps to go. At Surtees, Redding eased past Ryde to take the lead and headed for the flag. Ray managed to pass Ryde, reducing the Championship points gap to 27 and setting the fastest lap of the race. Ray would start on pole for Sunday’s race 2.

Rory Skinner, Danny Kent and Max Cook took fourth to sixth places. #91 Leon Haslam, sitting third in the Championship, had a mathematical chance to win the Championship but came in seventh, ending his title hopes. Tommy Bridewell and Christian Iddon #21 both crashed out but would be fit to ride on Sunday.

British Superbikes Finale Race 1 result:

  1. Scott Redding, Hager PBM Ducati.
  2. Bradley Ray, Raceways Yamaha +0.151s.
  3. Kyle Ryde, Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamaha +1.284s.

British Superbikes Finale Race 2.

In the twelve-lap sprint race, Ray got a better start in race two, leading from Redding and Ryde. Christian Iddon high-sided at the exit of Clark Curve, which brought out the safety car. The racing restarted on lap five, but Leon Haslam also crashed dramatically at Clark, with his bike ending up in the safety fence. Rory Skinner #11, also went down in the cold, tricky conditions.

Ray and Ryde battled at the front, both leading the race and trying to find an advantage and brake away. Redding had been biding his time and moved on Ray at Hawthorns. On the final lap, Redding once again used the power and handling of the Ducati at Hawthorns to take the lead from Ryde. Crossing the line, Redding now had a double win for the Hager PBM Ducati to celebrate.

Danny Kent was fourth, who was followed in by the young guns #86 Charlie Nesbitt and Max Cook. 30 points now separated Ryde from Ray heading into the final race.

British Superbikes Finale Race 2 result:

  2. Kyle Ryde, Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamaha +0.306s.
  3. Bradley Ray, Raceways Yamaha +0.357s

British Superbikes Finale Race 3

Scott Redding #4, started on pole after setting the fastest lap of race 2. Ray and Danny Kent lined up next to Redding on the front row with Ryde in fourth. A light rain was now falling as we have seen this season some go the riders love the rain other not so. No one was going to predict the winner of this one. The bottom line was as long as Ryde finished in the top half of the riders he would be crowned 2025 Champion.

Redding held the lead briefly being passed by Ray who needed to be in the top two to have any chance of becoming a double champion. Ryde settled into fourth and looked to be riding tacitly in the challenging conditions.

Danny Kent riding for the last time on the McAMS Racing Yamaha wanted the win for the team who would be not racing in BSB next year. Taking the lead on lap five #52 Kent looked comfortable at the from followed by Charlie Nesbitt who was looking for podium glory in the final race. Sitting in third was not good enough for Ray Championship bid but he couldn’t catch Nesbitt.

With two laps to go Nesbitt crashed from second place out handing a lifeline to Ray. Tommy Bridewell was now up to third. Storm Stacey #79, who always goes well in the wet finished in fourth and the top BMW rider.

Scott Redding couldn’t make three race wins in a row and was fifth. Ryde was riding his own race, crossing the line in sixth was good enough for Kyle Ryde to take the 2025 BSB crown for a second time.

British Superbikes Finale Race 3 result:

  1. Danny Kent, McAMS Racing Yamaha.
  2. Bradley Ray, Raceways Yamaha +1.300s.
  3. Tommy Bridewell, Honda Racing UK +5.619s.

British Superbike Championship 2025

Bradley Ray #28, had won twelve races compared to Rydes six this season but still ended up second in the Championship. Completing the “triple triple” of three consecutive race wins at three meeting would be worthy of a Champion. However, crashing out three times Ray lost valuable points on Ryde who has now scored points in sixty consecutive races. This is an amazing achievement by Ryde. His self title of “Youth” now needs to be changed to Mr Consistency.

Leon Haslam was third with Scott Redding fourth in the BSB Championship. Scott will be on an all new Ducati next year. Considering Scott only raced a part season after moving over from World Superbikes the 2026 BSB Championship is going to be one of the best. The first race in the 30th year of BSB racing will be 2-3 May 2026 at Oulton Park. I for one cant wait.
