Round 7 of the Trent Valley Kart Club Championship was held at PF International Kart Circuit last weekend. Over 70+ young drivers arrived early to round out their club championship for 2025. The morning delivered tricky conditions for competitors across all classes, which saw several karts coming off within the first couple of turns. The day began on a wet track that dried rapidly, forcing drivers to constantly adapt to the evolving surface.

From Junior Rotax through to the Senior categories in the TVKC Championship, the shifting grip levels proved a real test of skill and setup. The low autumn sun added another layer of difficulty during the morning sessions, limiting visibility in key braking zones and catching out several drivers early on.

Despite the challenges, the changing conditions set the stage for some closely fought racing as the track continued to improve throughout the day with lap times improving lap by lap.

This marks the end of the club championship for 2025, but there is one last outing for 2025 for the festive cup which is held on the 6th and 7th December at PF International.

Brief History of PF International Circuit

PF International Kart Circuit, owned by Mr. Paul Fletcher, stands as one of the premier karting venues in the United Kingdom. Fletcher’s involvement in motorsport dates back to the 1950s, during which he enjoyed a 25-year career competing at both national and international karting levels.

Throughout his lifetime, Fletcher has invested immense time, effort, and resources into the sport, driven by a passion to elevate British karting. His long-held ambition to create a world-class facility became a reality in 1994 with the opening of PF International Kart Circuit.

Over the past three decades, his dedication and vision have transformed the venue into a circuit of true international standing. In 2011, PFI earned its International A Grade licence — a distinction that it still holds today as the only kart circuit in the UK to have achieved this prestigious status.

Photographic Post Script

Whilst covering my first motorsport event was a real learning experience, I quickly realised how important it is to keep shooting and stay in the moment, rather than pausing to check each photo — something that cost me a few key action shots on track.

Even so, the day was hugely enjoyable, and I came away with a deeper appreciation for the fast-paced world of motorsport photography. I’d definitely recommend that anyone starting out gives a grassroots event like Karting a try. It’s the perfect place to learn, experiment, and build confidence with your motorsport photography skill set.
