BTCC Snetterton 2026 – Rounds 7, 8 & 9

The 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship arrived at Snetterton for Rounds 7, 8 and 9 of an already fiercely competitive campaign. The fast and technical 2.97-mile Snetterton 300 circuit challenged drivers and teams across an action-packed weekend in Norfolk, while the title battle intensified between several of the championship’s biggest names.

Championship leader Ash Sutton aimed to extend his advantage at the top of the standings, while reigning champion Tom Ingram and NAPA Racing UK team-mate Dan Cammish looked to close the gap. WSR’s Charles Rainford also entered the weekend with growing momentum following an impressive start to the season for the BMW squad.

With fast straights, heavy braking zones and the newly introduced Qualifying Race format adding further unpredictability, Snetterton once again produced close racing and dramatic moments throughout the weekend.

BTCC Snetterton – Free Practice

Dan Cammish topped Free Practice for NAPA Racing UK as he continued his strong form around the Norfolk venue. The Yorkshireman finished ahead of Team VERTU duo Tom Ingram and Tom Chilton, while Dexter Patterson and Dan Rowbottom also impressed during the extended session.

Championship leader Ash Sutton ended practice in sixth, while Chris Smiley, James Dorlin, Gordon Shedden and Aiden Moffat completed the top ten.

Organisers extended the session to one hour to allow teams additional time to adapt to new brake pad materials introduced for the weekend. Following practice, the field split into odd and even groups for separate qualifying sessions ahead of the Qualifying Race.

The new eight-lap ‘Race to Pole’ format continued to add another strategic element to the BTCC weekend structure, with half-points available and the result deciding the grid for Sunday’s opening race.

BTCC Snetterton – Qualifying Race

Charles Rainford secured victory in the Qualifying Race after a confident performance in difficult hot conditions. The WSR BMW driver battled past pole sitter Tom Chilton in the opening laps and controlled the race from the front despite briefly running onto the grass during the early exchanges.

Chilton’s race quickly unravelled after officials handed the Team VERTU driver a five-second penalty for starting out of position. Josh Cook capitalised to finish second for Speedworks Corolla Racing, while reigning champion Tom Ingram completed the podium.

Ash Sutton suffered another setback in the Qualifying Race format after a mechanical issue forced the championship leader into retirement.

Dan Cammish finished fourth ahead of Dan Rowbottom, while Daryl De Leon, Adam Morgan, Tom Chilton, James Dorlin and Sam Osborne rounded out the top ten.

Rainford’s success also highlighted the competitiveness of the 2026 BTCC season, with all six manufacturers claiming victories during the opening nine races.

BTCC Snetterton 2026– Round 7

Charles Rainford continued his impressive weekend by claiming victory in Round 7, securing his second BTCC win and leading a strong result for WSR.

The BMW driver controlled the race from the front as Tom Ingram climbed into second after overtaking Josh Cook on the opening lap. Cook initially held onto third before Daryl De Leon launched a superb charge through the field in the second WSR BMW.

After spending much of the race behind Dan Cammish, De Leon eventually broke free before quickly catching and passing Cook to secure a podium finish at his home circuit. Cook finished fourth ahead of Cammish, while Dan Rowbottom secured sixth for Jason Platos Cataclean Plato Racing.

Tom Chilton and Ricky Collard completed a double top-eight result for Team VERTU, while James Dorlin and Ash Sutton rounded out the top ten. Sutton recovered strongly after starting near the back of the grid on the Goodyear medium tyre.

BTCC Snetterton 2026 – Round 8

Ash Sutton produced one of the drives of the season in Round 8 as the four-time champion charged from tenth on the grid to claim his fifth victory of the 2026 campaign. The NAPA Racing UK driver sliced through the field during the opening laps before overtaking team-mate Dan Cammish, Ricky Collard and the WSR BMW pair of Charles Rainford and Daryl De Leon.

Tom Ingram initially looked set to challenge for victory after moving ahead of the BMWs, but an alternator failure ended the Team VERTU driver’s race and handed Sutton a clear advantage at the front.

Sutton crossed the line more than six seconds clear despite receiving a post-race five-second penalty following an earlier incident involving De Leon and Collard.

Ricky Collard and Tom Chilton secured a double podium for Team VERTU, while Cammish finished fourth ahead of Adam Morgan and Dan Rowbottom. Gordon Shedden claimed seventh, securing both the Independents’ victory and reverse-grid pole position for the final race of the day. Rainford, De Leon and Chris Smiley completed the top ten.

BTCC Snetterton 2026 – Round 9

Gordon Shedden delivered one of the standout performances of the weekend to win Round 9 and secure his seventh career BTCC victory at Snetterton. Starting from pole position, the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport driver defended brilliantly against sustained pressure from Dan Rowbottom, Adam Morgan, Ash Sutton and Tom Ingram.

As the race progressed, Sutton repeatedly challenged Shedden for the lead, but the experienced Scot produced a defensive masterclass to remain in front despite several intense side-by-side battles.

Sutton eventually finished second on the road ahead of Ingram, although officials later handed the Team VERTU driver a ten-second penalty for repeated track limits offences. The decision dropped Ingram to eighth and promoted WSR’s Daryl De Leon onto the podium for the second time that day.

Chris Smiley impressed in fourth for Restart Racing, while Charles Rainford, Adam Morgan and Tom Chilton completed the top seven. Dan Cammish and Dan Rowbottom rounded out the top ten.

One of the highlight moments of the weekend came after the race. Team VERTU’s Nic Hamilton secured the Jack Sears Trophy victory at Snetterton. Fans packed the podium celebrations as the other BTCC racers joined the crowd in applauding Hamilton’s achievement after several seasons of determination and progress.
